Our first featured lioness is Mayasa (MAH-yah-sah), a trailblazer in holistic wellness. From her early years with loving grandparents and elder aunties, Mayasa embraced the power of natural herbal remedies. She firmly believes that nature provides everything we need for healing, a philosophy that fuels her dedication to holistic wellness. Her journey includes creating a natural product line, building a wellness spa and resort in Westmoreland, Jamaica, and continually advancing her certifications in midwifery and birth work. Rooted in her Caribbean and Igbo, West African heritage, she prioritizes inner peace, fitness, and cultural distinctiveness.
A vegan health enthusiast, Mayasa’s spiritual awakening deepened through experiences in Kemet (Egypt) and meditative healing in Dakar, Senegal. She earned a 500RYT Kemetic/Hatha Yoga certification with Yiser Ra Hotep in Jamaica and studied under Dr. Llaila Afrika, gaining profound wisdom in holistic healing. For over 25 years, she has mastered yoni wellness and Tantric healing, studying with world-recognized instructors.
Her passion extends to holistic retreats in Jamaica and Tanzania, herbalism, Thai massage, birth work, and essential oils as a doTerra consultant. She has supported over 1,200 families in birth and empowers women through belly dance, firearms safety, and wellness coaching. A graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she has been featured on Fox 5 News, WHUR, and WTOP and has created instructional DVDs.
Through teaching, media, and community service, Mayasa helps Black and Brown women break barriers, offering tools and resources to support their journey to health, empowerment, and self-discovery. She remains a lifelong student, always learning and growing.
